It’s been a while…
The last time I wrote a blog post was back in February 2026, and since then, The Pan Yard has changed quite a bit. In fact, so much has happened that I thought it was probably time to bring the blog back.
When I last wrote, we were still running The Pan Yard from home. Fast forward to now and we have our own premises in Louth, which is pretty bloody exciting when you actually stop and think about it.
It also hasn’t gone entirely to plan.
Actually, let’s be honest… it really hasn’t gone smoothly.
There have been delays, complications, things taking considerably longer than expected and plenty of moments where we’ve had to stop, rethink things and work out another way forward. It’s definitely been a learning curve, and there have been times when it’s felt like one thing after another.
But, despite all of that, we’re here.
So, where are we now?
At the moment, we’re continuing to take orders online, with customers paying online and then collecting their pizzas from us. The plan was for delivery to be up and running by now too, but unfortunately, it isn’t quite there yet.
It’s not exactly where we thought we’d be at this point, but we’re working with what we’ve got and getting on with it. Sometimes you just have to stop worrying about the things you can’t change and concentrate on what you can do.
Those who follow our private Facebook group will already know about some of the chaos that’s happened along the way, as I’ve shared plenty of it there as we’ve gone through it. So don’t worry — I’m not about to make you sit through the entire saga all over again! 😂
Instead, I want the blog to focus a little more on the bigger picture of The Pan Yard — where we’ve come from, where we are now, what’s happening next and what it’s actually like building a small, independent food business.
Because when you take a step back, the amount that has changed is pretty crazy.
We’ve gone from making pizzas at home, working around everything else that life throws at you, to having our own premises in Louth. That’s a pretty big change in itself, and something we’re incredibly proud of.
Of course, we’re nowhere near finished yet.
We’re still learning, still figuring things out and still working towards where we want The Pan Yard to be. There are plenty of things we’d like to improve, plenty of plans we want to put into action and, no doubt, plenty more unexpected challenges waiting for us along the way.
But that’s all part of it.
So, welcome back to The Pan Yard blog.
It’s been a while, but we’re back — and there’s plenty more to come.
