If you’ve collected one of our pizzas already you would have already noticed that heavenly scent of caramelised cheese and freshly baked dough. We’ve brought Detroit-style pizza to town, and if you haven't tried it yet, you’re in for a treat. It’s deep, it’s rectangular, and it’s got those iconic "racing stripes" of sauce on top.
Since we only fire up the ovens on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, we’ve put together a quick guide on how to make the most of your weekend slices.
1. Pick Your Weekend Vibe
Detroit pizza isn't a "rushed" meal. It’s thick, satisfying, and designed for those moments when you want to properly switch off.
- The Friday "Finish Line": You’ve survived the week. You want a reward. This pizza is sturdy—it doesn’t flop—making it the perfect companion for a movie night on the sofa. It's pure comfort.
- The Saturday Social: Whether you’ve got the football on or mates over for a catch-up, these slices are built for sharing. It’s easy "hand-to-mouth" food that stays warm longer than a thin-crust, so it’ll last until the final whistle.
- The Sunday Drive: We’re currently trialling Sunday Lunchtimes/evenings with our special Sunday Lunch style pizza. It’s all those comforting Sunday flavours served on our signature light, springy base. It’s the ultimate "no-fuss" Sunday afternoon.
2. The Perfect Pairing
To balance the richness of the cheese and that buttery crust, you need a refreshing drink.
- Keep it Classic: You can’t go wrong with a cold Cola or Diet Coke. The sweetness is a great contrast to the salty, cheesy edges.
- A Bit of Zing: A fizzy Lemonade or a Sparkling Orange drink works wonders to refresh the palate between bites.
- A Weekend Tipple: If you’re fancying something stronger, a simple cold Lager or a Cider hits the spot. If you're a wine drinker, a glass of your favourite Red or White wine will handle the bold flavours of the sauce perfectly.
3. Tackle the Corners First!
In the world of Detroit pizza, there is a legendary battle for the corner slices. Why? Because you get two sides of the "frico"—that crunchy, lacy, burnt-cheese edge that makes this style famous. If you’re sharing a box, move fast!
4. Put the Cutlery Away
The base of a Detroit pizza is inspired by focaccia—it’s light, airy, and springy. This means it’s easy to pick up and hold. Forget the knife and fork; just make sure you have plenty of napkins handy for the sauce!
